Darkness and light

Published by cateisgreat under Uncategorized Edit This

Out of the dream world I hear her call. Sometimes, for a brief moment, I awaken confused and convinced that I am still dreaming. I lie in my bed trying to remember how to make my arms and legs work, knowing if I don’t figure it out soon her voice will become louder and more insistent. With increased volume comes increased danger that another presence, older and darker, will be awakened by her hunger.

Suddenly mobile I fumble through the enveloping black, eyes scanning from left to right for any obstacles lurking in the shadows. From below I hear the snore of another slumbering beast sputter out as I pass. Heavy head and dark eyes follow my every move but quickly lose interest as his eyelids drift closed once more.

The corridor is illuminated softly by a glow coming from another chamber. Therein, the first lies sleeping. I rush past, more sure of my step now. The threshold of her domainĀ  is before me and once inside I must fulfill her desires or be destined never to return to my world of dreams.

Her cries slow and then stop. I have been spotted. Her arms reach for me and I slowly bring her into my embrace. We are warm together, rocking slowly back and forth. Her hand clutches the releases, clutches then releases again.

As the minutes pass, her arms become limp and her breathing deep and even. Slowly, slowly I creep towards her nest and place her in it, careful not to make any unnessary movements. For a moment the light from the moon illuminates her face briefly making angel out of devil. I am captivated.

Once again, I stumble into my own warm cocoon. For the moment she is sated.
